To deliver safety and visibility under dusty conditions the Volkswagen ID.4’s backup monitor has a standard rear washer to keep the view clear. A camera washer system costs extra on the Audi A6 e-tron.

Both the ID.4 and the A6 e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Volkswagen’s powertrain warranty covers the ID.4 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Audi covers the A6 e-tron. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the A6 e-tron ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 2 times as many Volkswagen dealers as there are Audi dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the ID.4’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Volkswagen vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. With 44 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Volkswagen higher than Audi.

The ID.4’s optional electric motors produces 108 lbs.-ft. more torque (536 vs. 428) than the A6 e-tron’s standard electric motor.

As tested in Motor Trend the Volkswagen ID.4 electric motors is faster than the Audi A6 e-tron electric motor:

For better traction, the ID.4 has larger tires than the A6 e-tron (F:235/50R20 & R:255/45R20 vs. F:225/55R19 & R:245/50R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the ID.4 Pro S Plus AWD Pro S Plus has standard 21-inch wheels. The A6 e-tron’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

For better maneuverability, the ID.4’s turning circle is 8.9 feet tighter than the A6 e-tron’s (31.5 feet vs. 40.4 feet). The ID.4 AWD’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the A6 e-tron’s (36.4 feet vs. 40.4 feet).

The Volkswagen ID.4 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 350 pounds less than the Audi A6 e-tron.

The ID.4 is 1 foot, 1.5 inches shorter than the A6 e-tron, making the ID.4 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The ID.4 has 2.1 inches more front headroom, .3 inches more rear headroom and 2.4 inches more rear legroom than the A6 e-tron.

The ID.4 has a 2200 lbs. towing capacity. The A6 e-tron has no towing capacity.

Standard trailer stability control on the ID.4 uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the ID.4 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the ID.4 has a standard rear wiper. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The ID.4 Pro S/Pro S Plus has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the A6 e-tron.

The Volkswagen ID.4 outsold the Audi A6/S6/RS 6 by over two to one during 2025.
