The Volkswagen ID.BUZZ weighs 745 to 1488 pounds more than the Mazda CX-90. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The ID.BUZZ comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire van. The CX-90’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ higher (10 out of 10) than the Mazda CX-90 (6). This means the ID.BUZZ produces up to 12.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the CX-90 every 15,000 miles.

The ID.BUZZ’s standard sliding doors can be opened with less than three inches side clearance. The CX-90’s standard rear swing-out doors are bulky and make loading in tight spots difficult.

The ID.BUZZ’s power side sliding doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the van. The CX-90 doesn’t offer a power rear door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the ID.BUZZ to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The CX-90 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The ID.BUZZ has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the CX-90 Premium Plus/Turbo S.

The ID.BUZZ has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the CX-90.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) for the front seat. Only the CX-90 Preferred/Premium offers wireless charging.

The ID.BUZZ’s Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The CX-90 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
